A school counselor acts as a dependable, informative mentor and guide, typically for the entire student body while incorporating individual personalities, interests, aptitudes and future plans. As a compassionate professional I will work with students to help set reasonable and realistic academic, social, and career goals; create the strategies needed to fulfill those goals; and develop the necessary skills for success.
School counselors are a well of important information on social-emotional development and educational opportunities, as well as valued advisers for students who are unsure where their futures lie.
As your school counselor, I will collaborate with students in grades K-5, performing a range of assessments to pinpoint their strengths and to uncover any areas in need of improvement. I also can provide information about 504 accommodation plans, MTSS support services, behavioral interventions and referrals to outside mental health agencies that may further support the success of your student.
FCPS Virtual Center for Resilience - Check out this resource and consider having it linked to your website, Google Classrooms, etc.
Peace Hospital - please keep this information on hand for students/families that might need to be connected with this provider.
Here is a great way to support staff & families from through NTI! Consider facilitating a Compassion Resilience group for staff or students! Everything is planned for you and ready to implement this support. Use the Compassion Resilience Toolkitfor School Staff and the Toolkit for Parents & Caregiver groups.
